Hannah Senesh, Heroic Jewish Pilot and resistance fighter was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1921. In WWII, she fought with the British Army and anti-Nazi forces in the rescue of Hungarian Jews out of occupied Europe. Upon her capture and arrest at the Hungarian border, she was tried and executed.
Hannah Senesh is a National Hero in Israel. She was also a Poet. The best known of her poems is “A Walk to Caesarea”, known as Eli, Eli (“My God, My God”). The well-known melody was composed by David Zahavi.
